Some team members participated in this legislative action day along with other grassroots organizations. We organized and met at the North Carolina legislature to stand against vaccine passports and support voter integrity. During the day we met legislators along with other groups who were out that day. We highlighted issues that are important to the Hispanic community when meeting with elected officials.
We were co-sponsors of the Future of Education event in partnership with The Libre Initiative in April 2021. The event had as its guest speaker Catherine Truitt, Superintendent of Public Instruction for the state of North Carolina, who highlighted the role she plays in education policy across the state. The event was held at The Dillon, in Raleigh, NC. It was well attended with many Hispanic families and children as well as other education stakeholders, policy people and American for Prosperity staff.
Hispanos Del Sur was represented at the North Carolina Legislature on Tuesday, May 11th from 10-2pm. We worked with likeminded grassroots organizations to shed light on free and fair elections, voter integrity and critical race theory in our statewide educational systems.
During the day, grassroots leaders went into senate and house member offices to meet with legislators and hand them white papers on our positions on issues affecting North Carolina.
